My go to book for Soap Making is Soap Crafting by Anne-Marie Faiola

Posted by Chris Greten on

There are certainly many books out there in the world of soap making. But there is one book that I consider my go to book time and time again. Whenever I have a question or need some inspiration or ideas it is Soap Crafting Step by Step Techniques for Making 31 Unique Cold Process Soaps by Anne-Marie Faiola that I turn to every time. This book is a great resource for someone who has just begun the craft of soap making or someone who has been soaping for a long time. Anne-Marie is not only a gifted soap maker but she is also an excellent teacher. She is able to break down the process of each recipe into easy to follow step by step instructions. There are plenty of photos as well as some pretty awesome techniques.

There are 2 parts to the book Part one Covers:

• Soapmaking Techniques and Safety Guidelines
• Soapmaking Equipment
• Making a Basic Cold-Process Batch: A Tutorial
• Understanding Oil Choices
• Using Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils

Part 2 has 31 Cold Process Recipes, which consist of:

• Playing with Color
• Creative Molds
• Inspired by Food
• Exploring Additives
• Super Swirls

This book is filled with beautiful color photos of techniques and recipes. The recipes all have step by step easy to follow instructions with a ton of photos to document the process along the way. I have been very successful in duplicating all the recipes that I have tried in this book. Ann-Marie has done an incredible job of putting this book together and I believe every soaper should have a copy of this book on their shelf.
