I live in Chicago but my heart lives in the west! I Miss my kids!

Posted by Chris Greten on

This is a picture of me and my daughter, Ashley, enjoying the strip in Las Vegas during our Thanksgiving visit last year. She moved there 2 years ago to take a teaching position. Wow doesn't feel like it was that long ago that she was in grade school, let alone being a grade school teacher for 2 years! They grow up and out so fast, I know you probably hear that again and again and I really do not mean to be cliché. But Moms, I really mean it, hug and kiss those babies and savor those moments because it really does fly right by. The hardest thing I have had to do was watch her drive off in her car with her best friend (she got a teaching position in Vegas too!) as they followed their career and dreams to Las Vegas Probably the second hardest thing is saying goodbye when we visit her or she visits us. You would think that would get easier as time goes on but in fact it is getting harder and harder with each goodbye.

My very exciting news is she comes home tomorrow for 3 1/2 weeks of summer vacation break!!!!! I cannot wait, and I can’t even describe the excitement I feel. I can tell you there are tears streaming as I write this so that should help to paint the picture for you. My son and daughter-in-law also moved away, to Colorado, they moved last year. I miss them just as much! So as you can imagine my day and night dreams are just overflowing with visions of moving west and living closer to these kids that we love and miss so much.

The plan is in in place and we are making strides closer every day to going west! When we were trying to come up with a name for our homemade soap company, Westboundsoap seemed like such a great fit and that name helped to tell the story of who we are and where our hearts are. So if you have little ones or even kids older that are living home or nearby, enjoy your time with them! Take it from a mom who misses her kids so much! But right now I am thinking happy thoughts and focusing on that great big hug I am going to get tomorrow. Hope your tommorow will be as awesome as mine is going to be. Tell me what you are doing with your kids?
